SmarterSafer Coalition Applauds Climate Crisis Action Plan Introduced by House Select Committee

Washington, D.C. – July 2, 2020 – SmarterSafer Coalition released the following statement in support of the newly released Congressional Climate Crisis Action Plan.

“SmarterSafer Coalition strongly supports the effort behind the Congressional Action Plan for a Clean Energy Economy and a Healthy, Resilient, and Just America from the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. The robust plan addresses SmarterSafer’s top priorities for making communities across the country more resilient to the impacts of climate change, including reducing disaster risk and costs, strengthening our National Flood Insurance Program, and limiting wildfire risks. 

A bipartisan federal measure is desperately needed if we want to seriously tackle the ongoing climate crisis and prevent damage from and limit taxpayer exposure to future natural disasters. We thank members of the select committee for their work in advancing these policy recommendations and encourage representatives on both sides of the aisle to collaborate in advancing actionable solutions.”

SmarterSafer is a national coalition of taxpayer advocates, environmental groups, insurance interests, housing organizations, and mitigation advocates.
