Washington, DC – August 1, 2022— The SmarterSafer Coalition issued the following statement regarding the creation of a new bipartisan Congressional Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Caucus.
“Natural disasters are increasing in frequency and severity, which is why the SmarterSafer Coalition applauds the creation of the new Congressional Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Caucus.
The need for pre-disaster mitigation efforts is greater than ever, and we know this bipartisan Caucus will work tirelessly to bring together political actors from both sides of the aisle to take tangible action. We look forward to engaging with the Caucus to protect the American people by prioritizing resiliency and support for those harmed – both physically and financially – by natural disasters.”
SmarterSafer is a national coalition made up of a diverse chorus of voices united in favor of environmentally responsible, fiscally sound approaches to natural catastrophe policy that promote public safety. SmarterSafer members include taxpayer advocates, environmental groups, insurance interests, housing organizations, and mitigation advocates.
